Party Streamers
Thursday, June 30th, 2011When somebody says something about crepe paper, most people think of a decoration for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, reception, parade, party, etc. However, you can use party streamers in more fun and exciting ways. Here are a few ideas:
Flowers: Take a small piece of crepe paper and twist it into a tube-like shape to create a petal. Repeat the process until you have the desired amount of petals. Staple them together, while twisting them in a circle until you have created your flower. Optional: purchase different colors of the paper, and have each petal be a different color, creating a majestic rainbow plant.
Christmas Tree: Use party streamers to decorate your Christmas tree! Simply go round and round until you reach the top. You then have created a fun, and cheap way to decorate your tree. Add on other ornaments to add more to the holiday spirit. Not only that, you probably will have the most original tree on the block.
Flags: Need a crafty flag for the fourth of July? You can make one out of crepe paper! Take red and white party streamers and lay them in a line side by side, going red, white, red etc. Then create a blue square with white dots in the middle. It’s the perfect holiday decoration!
Pinata: Homemade pinata’s are fun, and everyone enjoys them, so why not decorate them with crepe paper instead of plain paint?. After the Pinata itself is made, take your crepe paper and plaster it on in any way. It’s that simple! Optional: Get different colors of party streamers for a more varied and textured look.
Campfire: Get three cardboard toilet paper rolls. Stick two cotton balls on the edge of two craft sticks. Cut orange, red and yellow crepe paper into 8-by-8-inch squares, 7-by-7-inch squares and finally 6-by-6-inch squares. Place the squares on the palm of your hand, the largest to the smallest and then close your fist. When you open your hand, gather the top pieces and glue them together so that they form a little fire. Place glue at the bottom of your “fire” and put it on top of your brown toilet paper tubes. You have then created a miniature model of a campfire.
Crepe paper does not have to be used at a birthday, or at a carnival, or at a parade. There are many fun and enjoyable crafts that you could make using party streamers. Whether you’re with your kids, with your spouse, or with your parents, crepe paper creates a helpful, decorative, and creative atmosphere.
